The Artists

Krystal Halvorson

Born and raised among the wide-open fields of the Midwest, Krystal Halvorson bid farewell to Iowa’s gravel roads and dramatic seasons to travel internationally pursuing visual arts. After visiting nine countries in two years—Venezuela being the most transformative—she joined an artist collective that lived and worked in a converted funeral home turned community theater that specialized in producing original musical comedies.  Family ties eventually brought her to the Lowcountry, where Charleston has become home. Over the past decade, her music career has unfolded through many creative chapters: leading bands in local churches, recording in studios, and collaborating with Charleston’s finest musicians on stage. Her soulful vocals and creative arrangements span genres from vintage R&B and folk to reimagined classics, bringing sweet nostalgia and heart to every performance. She believes the arts are a profound way to nourish the human spirit and pursues building supportive community among artists. Offstage, she can be found soaking in nature or sailing the harbor. Follow upcoming releases and shows at www.musicbykrystal.com or @musicbykrystal.
